Available in 2 sizes, both come complete with wall and pole brackets (maximum pole dia 50mm).  They require no maintenance other than an occasional wipe with a clean wet sponge. These mirrors are extremely weather resistant.

These lightweight convex mirrors have a unique maconite backing with a chrome trim making the mirror completely weatherproof. Reece Safety mirrors are available in a wide range of sizes with two different material types to suit various applications -

Mirror Selection Guide / FAQ

To help you select the right mirror for your application, we have listed below the most frequently asked questions.

      1)    What size of mirror do I need ?

      Selecting the right size of mirror is quite simple. Each of our listings above show viewing distances in metres. Simply measure the distance between where the mirror is going to be sited and where you are going to be standing / sitting when using it. For example, if you need a mirror siting across the road to aid pulling out of a driveway, measure from where you will be sitting in your car when pulling out to where the mirror is going to positioned across the road.  If the distance is say 8 meters, then select a mirror with a recommended viewing distance of 8 meters or more (maybe something like our V516 which is very popular for this type of application and has a recommended viewing distance of 11 meters).  Always remember the bigger the mirror, the better the image and the more you will see. If on your application you are 8 meters away but select a mirror with only a 5 meter recommended distance, then this isn’t really going to do the job for you.

      2)    How far will a mirror see ?

A mirror only reflects so it will see infinitely. It’s important that the correct size of mirror is selected for your application (as covered above). As a general rule it is better to go for a mirror that has a higher recommended viewing distance than needed. This way you will see further.

      3)    Do I need permission to install a mirror ?

If you’re siting the mirror on your land or property then you do not need permission. If the mirror is going onto somebody else’s property or on a council verge at the side of the road then you need permission from whoever owns the land the mirror is going on.

      4)     I need a mirror to look both ways (left & right) when pulling out

All our convex mirrors are very slightly convexed. This gives a wider viewing angle but keeping an almost “true” reflection so you are able to judge distance / speed etc in most situations. For a mirror to look both ways you would need an almost 180 degree convex shape and the more convex a mirror is, the smaller the reflection appears making judging distance / speed difficult and sometimes dangerous. Because of this we do not sell this type of mirror. We are aware that there are mirrors on the market that claim to do this but because of the dangers these can create we do not sell them. The best way to be able to view in both directions is to have two separate mirrors, one angled to the left, the other to the right.

      5)    Which mirror material should I use ?

We offer mirrors in a range of materials. With advances in technology and material processes the reflection properties of all the range are very similar and reflect “just like a mirror”, distortion free and clear. The main difference in materials is down to strength and longevity:

Acrylic – Approximately 10 times stronger than glass. Acrylic is a good budget material for general use. We would not recommend acrylic for use in areas prone to vandalism as, although it is a strong material, it is not unbreakable. All acrylic mirrors come with a 12 month guarantee.

Polycarbonate – Approximately 200 times stronger than glass. Polycarbonate is a very strong material ideal for use in areas prone to vandalism as it is ALMOST unbreakable. All Polycarbonate mirrors come with a 12 month guarantee.

Polymir – A very thin, lightweight material. Polymir mirrors are virtually unbreakable and as such every Polymir mirror comes with a 3 year guarantee. Ideal for situations where impacts are possible and it is safe for use around children as it is 100% shatterproof.

Stainless Steel – The Rolls Royce of materials for mirrors. Stainless steel, if looked after and regularly cleaned, should last forever. There are no corrosive parts supplied with any of our stainless steel mirrors and, as they are steel, they will not break, crack or shatter. Our standard stainless steel mirrors come with a 12 month guarantee. Our anti-frost stainless mirrors come with a 60 month guarantee.

6)   How high should I mount my mirror?

Ideally, having the mirror at eye level is the best position. You don’t want to be straining looking up if you mount it too high.

      7)   Can I put a mirror on a lamp post or telegraph pole ?

The simple answer to this is no. Unless you get permission to do this you could be asked to take it down. We do not recommend you attach anything to a lamp post as these contain electricity.

      8)   Can you invoice us for our mirror ?

If you are a school or council you can fax an official purchase order to 01457 878043. We will then set up an account and despatch your mirror along with an invoice. 9)    Where can I buy / see a mirror before I buy ? How long does delivery take ?

Unlike many "on-line" shops, we keep most mirrors in stock ready for immediate despatch from our 5000sq foot warehouse in Delph, Lancashire. Delivery is usually next day but please allow 3-5 days depending on where in the country you are. We sell our mirrors direct, cutting out the middle man in order to keep our prices as keen as possible. If you would like to view before purchase you are welcome to visit our premises in Delph, Lancashire. For safety reasons please telephone first to let us know you are coming as we operate from a warehouse, not a shop premises.

10)  Can you make your flat mirrors in custom sizes ?

Yes, we can produce our flat mirrors to your custom size. However, we are unable to do this economically for just a few mirrors. Quantities would need to be in the region of 50+ for custom sizes.
